Our Year 4 pupils from St Cuthbert’s, Crook took part in a special retreat day at St John’s Catholic School & Sixth Form College, centred around the theme “Build a Better World.”

During the visit, the children were invited to think carefully about how the values they learn in school can be lived out in everyday life. They moved thoughtfully between a range of prayer and reflection stations, each encouraging pupils to consider themes such as caring for others, belonging to a community and taking responsibility for the world around them.

The calm and reflective nature of the day gave pupils valuable time to pause, pray and share ideas with one another. Through discussion and quiet reflection, they were encouraged to think about how their actions can make a positive difference, both now and in the future.

Our pupils represented St Cuthbert’s extremely well, showing respect, maturity and a willingness to fully engage with each activity. Experiences like this provide meaningful opportunities for spiritual growth and help children develop confidence as learners.

Visiting St John’s also allowed pupils to experience a secondary school setting in a supportive environment, helping to build familiarity and strengthen links beyond primary school. Retreat days such as this play an important role in broadening pupils’ experiences and supporting their personal development.

We would like to thank St John’s for welcoming us and providing such a thoughtful and well‑planned day, which our pupils thoroughly enjoyed.
