We are excited to announce that St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School, located in Crook, will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday, March 5th! This special event is a fantastic opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate reading, creativity, and the magic of storytelling.
Dress As a Word – Bring Vocabulary to Life!
To mark this year’s celebration, all children are invited to take part in our fun and imaginative “Dress As a Word” initiative. Pupils can choose any word and turn it into a costume — from “colourful” and “courageous” to “spooky” or “magnificent.” We can't wait to see how our young learners express their chosen words in creative ways!
All details can be found on the poster shared with this post.
Design a Tube Character – A Reading Squad Challenge
Our dedicated Reading Squad is also encouraging children to join in with the “Design A Tube Character” contest. This activity invites students to design a character using a simple tube, inspired by books, imagination, or their own inventive ideas.
The full instructions and guidelines are also included on the poster.
All completed designs will be beautifully showcased in our school library for everyone to enjoy. We love highlighting the creativity of our pupils!
Engaging Activities Planned Throughout the Day
Our teachers have prepared a range of enjoyable book-themed activities to spark imagination and encourage a lifelong love of reading. From storytelling sessions to creative tasks, the day is designed to immerse children in the joy of books.
