This week, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Whitfield to St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School in Crook. Visiting as a representative of CAFOD, she spoke to us about how we can help grow God’s love in our world through kindness, compassion, and thoughtful action.
During her visit, the children learned about an inspiring initiative in Bangladesh, where innovative community members have created floating vegetable beds. These clever structures survive turbulent weather and provide essential food for local families. Our pupils were fascinated to see how creativity and determination can help communities facing the effects of climate challenges.
Mrs Whitfield encouraged everyone to consider the many different ways we can support others in our own communities and around the world. Her message helped pupils reflect on how even small acts of generosity can make a big difference.
Afterwards, our pupils put this learning into action during our CAFOD Big Lent Walk fundraiser — and St Cuthbert’s children were all absolute superstars!
They tackled an exciting water obstacle course, showing resilience, teamwork, and plenty of enthusiasm as they helped raise money for CAFOD’s life‑changing projects.
A huge THANK YOU to all our families for your kindness and generous donations. Your support helps us live out our mission and contribute to building a fairer world for everyone.
